Climate change

16:00 - 17:30
The Old Library, Lloyd's, One Lime Street, London, EC3M 7HA

Join us IN PERSON for the second event in the 2022 iNED programme.

“How insurers are responding to climate change risk and regulatory requirements including; changes to the underwriting strategies, the TCFD framework and Net Zero”

Climate change risk and the regulatory expectations surrounding this are demanding ever increasing focus from insurance company boards and senior management. In this session Dorian Hicks and Phuong Gomard of Mazars and Meirion Board of QBE will explore this topic, including how businesses can address the following areas to inform and guide their journey:

• Regulatory backdrop
• How underwriting strategies are evolving including the impact of the Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (“NZIA”) • ESG – Risk or Opportunities [to also cover reputational and political risk]
• Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD):
      i Evolving market practice
ii how businesses can use the TCFD framework to their advantage
• Net zero a practical example

Put simply, ‘net zero’ refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere.  We reach net zero when the amount we add is no more than the amount taken away.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Following this forum delegates should, at a high level, be able to:

Identify the key risks, opportunities, and financial impacts arising from climate change

Summarise the broader regulatory landscape in the UK and internationally

Understand and categorise Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions in order to support and develop your net zero strategy
